Demon Barber Sweeny Todd - Man or Myth?

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street is back!, By Tim Burton, so I guess it must be really-really good!

Sweeney Todd is of a wrongfully imprisoned barber in Victorian England who sets out to seek revenge on the judge who imprisoned him. The plot is foreshadowed in the first lines of the opening number: "Attend the tale of Sweeney Todd./His skin was pale and his eye was odd./He shaved the faces of gentlemen/Who never thereafter were heard of again."

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street is sorta the first version of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Alleged to have been based on a real series of crimes from around 1800 – though nobody seems to be able to find any real evidence about it. However, in the mid-1800s the story started appearing in literature. And from their it became a popular urban legend of a Barber that slit the throats of his clients and with his lady friend baked them into meat pies and served them back to folks of the town.

If you liked the Sweeney Todd on Broadway, well you'll also love the Sweeney Todd movie version! I suggest that you visit the official Sweeney Todd movie site and see for yourselves or you can visit Sweeney Todd on MySpace.

Sweeney Todd will be out in Theaters December 21st - Ohh I so can't wait for this day!!!
